News: Clipshow II: JORN, SLASH & SACRED OATH

Seinen Auftrag erkannt hat Meisters�nger JORN, deshalb hei�t es "Bring Heavy Rock To The Land". In zwei Wochen erscheint das gleichnamige Album.

Ebenfalls ein Rocker vor dem Herrn ist Hutmacher SLASH. Da das Video f�r eine kurzfristige Aktion doch ein wenig zu sehr gl�nzt, sollte man die Liedwahl nicht mit den aktuellen VELVET REVOLVER Diskussionen in Verbindung bringen.
Und bei manch einem von euch funktioniert evtl. auch der Stream des ganzen "Apocalyptic Love" Albums beim Rolling Stone.

Alles andere als Hochglanz ist das aus allerlei bandhistorischen Szenen zusammengeschnittene Video von SACRED OATH. Der kultige "Blood Storm" ist ein Gru� vom n�chste Woche erscheinenden Best Of Album.

Trotz des reichlich berauschenden Bandk�rzels lebt "Turn It Up" von der TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION eher von dickem Southern Groove und nicht nur Vinnie Paul freut sich �ber die Bilder im Lyricvideo. Das neue Album "Peacemaker" kommt im Sommer.

Fast h�tte ich verpasst, dass BE'LAKOR schon ein zweites Lied vom neuen Album gepostet haben. "Absit Omen" verk�rzt die verbliebenen zwei Wochen Wartezeit auf das neue Album mit einem anget�uschten Lyricvideo, denn man muss f�r den Text in die Beschreibung gucken.

Ebenfalls ein paar Wochen unter dem Radar hat das neue Video von IN MOURNING verbracht. "A Vow To Conquer The Ocean" lohnt aber auch jetzt noch das Reinh�ren.

Eins der zwei neuen Lieder, die - bei der Geschichte von CHILDREN OF BODOM wenig �berraschend - Cover sind, ist "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" von den DROPKICK MURPHYS.

Bevor AFFECTOR, der Zusammenschluss von Daniel Fires, Collin Leijenaar (u.a. NEAL MORSE), Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X) und Ted Leonard (u.a. SPOCK'S BEARD & THOUGHT CHAMBER), am Freitag das Deb�t "Harmagedon" loslegen l�sst, gibt es bereits den Titeltrack, inkl. einem Keyboardsolo von DREAM THEATERs Jordan Rudess.

Der URGEHAL Frontmann und Gitarrist ist am Wochenende verstorben. Die genaueren Umst�nde sind zur Zeit noch nicht bekannt, das Label Season of Mist hat ein umfangreiches Statement angek�ndigt.
Laut dem deutschen Metal Hammer wurde er am Samstag tot in einer Waldh�tte aufgefunden.

Mittlerweile haben Season Of Mist bekannt gegeben, dass Trond eines nat�rlichen Todes gestorben ist.

Seine Bandkollegen Uruz und Enzifer haben ein kleines Statement verfasst:

"Der Gr��te ist fort.

Trondr Nefas, unser Freund und Mitstreiter seit mehr als 20 Jahren, ist letzte Woche pl�tzlich verstorben. Er starb einen friedlichen und nat�rlichen Tod an einem seiner Lieblingspl�tze, umgeben von W�ldern und kristallenen Seen. Danke f�r all die Jahre Freundschaft, Musik und Verr�cktheit. F�r die guten Zeiten und die schlechten Zeiten. Durch deine dunkle Passion f�r Black Metal hast du so viele inspiriert. Du warst ein wahrer Pionier.

Wir werden dich vermissen, aber nie vergessen, weil dein Verm�chtnis weiterleben wird. Unser tiefes Mitgef�hl gilt Trond's Verlobter Octavia und ihren beiden Familien. Wir bedanken uns f�r all Beleidsbekundungen und die Unterst�tzung, die wir nach seinem tragischen Tod erhalten (haben).

wenn BLACK SABBATH zumindest ein paar der angek�ndigten Reunion-Shows durchziehen. (Der Rest ist wegen Tony Iommis Erkrankung bekannterma�en in OZZY & FRIENDS ge�ndert worden.)

In einem langen Brief erz�hlt Bill, dass er sehr traurig dar�ber ist, aber der ihm vorgelegte Vertrag aus seiner Sicht einfach nicht unterschreibbar ist und er keine Wahl hat, wenn er sich selbst treu bleiben will. Urspr�nglich wurde ihm angeboten, auf dem Download Festival drei Lieder zu spielen. Der letzte Vorschlag, der sich nur noch auf die verbliebenen drei Konzerte (Birmingham 19.05., Download 10.06. und Lollapalooza 03.08.) bezog, sah vor, dass er kostenlos in Birmingham (mit)spielt und danach bewertet wird, wie es gelaufen ist. Obwohl er versucht war, dem nachzugeben, hat er sich entschlossen, dann lieber ganz abzusagen, um keinen SABBATH Fan zu bevorteilen, weil alle gleichwertig sind und er das Risiko sah, nach dem Birmingham Auftritt wieder drau�en zu sein.

Das ist aber kein Statement gegen die anderen drei Bandmitglieder und sollte er einmal einen Vertrag angeboten bekommen, den er guten Gewissens unterzeichnen kann, ist die Chance f�r eine Reunion weiter gegeben. Dieses Mal aber gewinnt niemand.

I sincerely regret to inform you that after a final effort to participate in the upcoming SABBATH shows, a failure to agree has continued. At this time I have to inform you that I won't be playing with BLACK SABBATH at the Birmingham gig dated May 19th, 2012, nor will I be playing at [U.K.'s] Download [festival] on June 10th, 2012. Further, I will not be playing at Lollapalooza [festival] on August 3, 2012.

It is with a very sad heart that I bring you this news. I am sincerely passionate in my desire to play with the band, and I'm very, very sorry that it's fallen to this. This statement is even more painstaking to write, as I was particularly excited to play alongside Tony Iommi after the recent treatments he underwent. I wanted that to become a reality.

To express my thoughts about you, the SABBATH fans, I'm going to speak to you all through an experience my brother James had recently. My brother Jimmy lives in the U.K. When speaking with him a couple of days ago, he told me that an acquaintance had stopped him on the street and confronted him, 'Is your brother playing Birmingham? What's going on? I waited in line with my son and paid X amount for the concert tickets.'

The man's son is a young drummer. He's going to see SABBATH, and he wants to see Bill Ward play drums.

Upon hearing this news, I felt horrible. I couldn't help feeling some resentment towards the failure to reach an agreement, the failure to remember where we came from, the failure to be as brothers, as we once were.

To be clear, I'm not blaming the other guys or finding any faults with them. I would think it can't be easy for them either, but this situation is just really sad. It's sad that it's come to this. 'This' will surely leave a mark and be unwelcome to the memory. Hopefully 'this' will heal and pass in time.

My heart sank when Jimmy told me about this young boy. I know this boy is going to be disappointed, and I don't know how to amend it, other than to put my arms around the boy and tell him I love him.

SABBATH fans have a voice and a face. To me you're human, you have families and despair. You have ferocity and emotions and graciousness, and at this moment, as far as I'm concerned, you are also that young boy in England. I don't know how to amend my part in these failings other than to put my arms around you and say I love you and let you know I'm very, very sorry.

Throughout this process, which began over a year ago, I have had to stand up for myself time and time again. I have had to stand up for myself and in doing so realize my actions indirectly, although unintentionally, are upsetting and hurting a lot of you. I know in my heart I couldn't have done these concerts by agreeing the terms suggested. I made a solemn vow after the last European and Ozzfest concerts that I would never again enter into what was, in my opinion, a totally unsatisfactory contract. I have to stand for something, and as painful as it is, I'm doing it.

Earlier in April 2012, I'd been asked to participate 'minimally' in the Download festival. I believe I'd been offered no more than three songs to play while another drummer presumably played the rest of the show with BLACK SABBATH. I was not willing to participate in that offer. I was not prepared to watch another drummer play a SABBATH set, while I was to play only three songs.

I found out about the Birmingham gig on Monday, April 30 through the Internet ad. I was taken aback somewhat by the date, and the fact it was Birmingham. Knowing the 'signable' contract negotiations were at best in shreds, I was upset by the idea that the band was going to play Birmingham and play it assumedly without me. I had no prior knowledge of the date and location, and I felt totally excluded. We contacted the representative for BLACK SABBATH to see if something could be worked out. In the meantime, my drum crew and I, along with our U.S. endorsers, finished all the necessary planning for a swift departure to the U.K. There wasn't a whole lot to complete; we'd all been on standby more or less since mid-January 2012. The remaining work in the U.K. was confirmed done by our European and U.K. endorsers and we were good to go by Friday, May 4 2012. There were two stress points: firstly, getting an agreement in place, and secondly, getting to England in a timely manner. Jetlag time was taken into account as well as drum practice, a drum practice room in the heart of Birmingham, accommodation, and travel arrangements were all in place to meet with any band rehearsals that may have transpired before the Birmingham show. So far everything that had been arranged was on my dime, but we didn't move ahead without a realistic confirmation.

Communications between the representative and my lawyer continued through the weekend of May 5, finalizing on Wednesday, May 9. The offer we received on May 9 was, 'Come to the U.K., play for free and see how the first show goes.' I was tempted. Playing for free would not have been a problem for me, but 'seeing how the first show goes' left an element of risk which could have affected Download. My ideal thought was to play in full the Birmingham show, in full Download, and in full Lollapalooza.

I had notified the representative that May 10 was my cutoff day in order to have good lead-in time for England. On the night of May 9, I asked for a brief letter to be sent to the representative asking to find out if we were at an end. On the morning of Thursday, May 10, I received a reply in the affirmative. After consulting with my advisors and crew, a decision was made to let go and stop.

I can't prioritize the SABBATH fans making one show more important than the other. I can't do that. All of you are important. It's all the gigs or none at all. I can't come to Birmingham and 'see what happens' knowing there is a risk of not being able to play Download or Lollapalooza. Again, for me, it's all or nothing. I had to say 'no' to Birmingham on the principle of wanting to play all the shows.

Saying no to Birmingham is very difficult for me. My family grew up in Birmingham. BLACK SABBATH grew up in Birmingham. It's still my hometown and I resent having to arrive at such a difficult choice.

Although the statement was made that 'the door is always open' for me, as explained above, walking through that door is not always as easy as it sounds. There are many complicated issues and unseen and unspoken agendas on hand. I can assure you, my criteria for a 'signable' contract is based in mindful principles, respectability, and acknowledgement of my history within the band.

I hold no malice or resentment towards the other band members. I love them; I'm tolerant of them; I'm frustrated with them, as they may be with me. My fight has never been with them. I'll love them forever. In my opinion, nobody wins this time; the band doesn't win; the fans for an original lineup don't win. Nobody wins, nobody. Even the ones who thought they did.

I didn't want to make this decision, but I have to be honest and transparent. This is the statement I didn't want to write; it's the last thing I wanted to do. But, I have written it, and now it can go into the universe.

Since spring of 2011, I've waited patiently and hopefully for a signable contract, you know the rest. I stand for the boy in the U.K., for the coming drum student, for all the drummers, who write their parts out and get stiffed on the publishing, I stand with the SABBATH fans chanting 'Bill Ward' and asking 'why?' and I stand with Tony and Geezer and Ozzy.

On a final note, even though I'm at an end with the upcoming announced concerts, I will remain with an open mind and a position of willingness to negotiate 'signable' terms with SABBATH's representatives in the future.

Zack zack wird bei KR�KE nachgelegt. Neulich nur ein neuer Song, jetzt ist schon alles in trockenen T�chern, was das neue Album betrifft. Ende Juni fliegen die Kr�hen los im Auftrag "Conquering Death".
Mal schauen, wie der ganzheitlich klingende und, wenn man kurz dr�ber nachdenkt, doch recht profane Ansatz umgesetzt wird, alle Arten von Inspirationen zu benutzen, denen man so begegnet, von klassischer Musik und Soundtracks �ber Literatur und die Natur...

Ober-FOZZY-B�r Chris Jericho hat sich gerade erfolgreich durch die Vocals f�r das neue Album gerungen und verspricht f�r die Ende des Jahres �ber Century Media erscheinende Scheibe seine beste Gesangsperformance bisher. Br�ll nicht zu laut, mein muskul�ser Freund.

Last but not least die 81. Meldung zu "Phantom Antichrist", das in zwei Wochen endlich erscheint. Kurz gesagt: Der zweite Albumtrailer.

Review: Nachtvorst - Silence

Man mag es kaum glauben, aber in den Niederlanden gibt es tats�chlich zwei Bands, die sich den Namen NACHTVORST gegeben haben. Die einen haben es 1995 auf eine EP gebracht, dir mir hier vorliegenden mittlerweile ihr zweites Album ver�ffentlicht. Bei NACHTVORST aus Rotterdam handelt es sich um S�nger Erghal und Instrumentalist Leopold, die sich das Schlagzeug im Studio von einem Niets haben einspielen lassen. 2009 gaben sie mit �Stills� ihr Deb�t, das stark nach Black Metal roch. News: Clipshow "Welcher Irre kombiniert das?!": ASIA, TRIOSPHERE & MORGOTH

So viel Weichzeichner wie im Clip von ASIA haben wir selten, aber die Herren haben ja auch schon ein paar Jahre auf dem Buckel. Das neue Album "XXX" erscheint Ende Juni.

Der neue TRIOSPHERE Clip wirft dagegen vor allem die Frage auf, wer da deutlich erh�ht hinter der Kamera gestanden hat, so dass S�ngerin und Bassistin Ida Haukland immer so entr�ckt in die Luft guckt. Das Lied stammt noch vom letzten Album, ein neues soll aber Anfang 2013 fertig sein.

Wir schlie�en mit "Isolated", einem Ausblick auf die anstehende MORGOTH DVD. Nicht von Mark Grewes Scheinwerferaugen erschrecken lassen!

News: Harmonischer PHILM mit Dave Lombardo

Und das liegt daran, dass das experimentelle Trio mit dem SLAYER Schlagzeuger, Gitarrist und S�nger Gerry Nestler (CIVIL DEFIANCE) und Bassist Pancho Tomaselli (WAR) weit abseits von den �blichen Kreisen des musikalischen Schaffens der drei operiert.

Passenderweise wird "Harmonic" von Ipecac Recordings ver�ffentlicht, dem Label von Greg Werckman und FAITH NO MORE Frontmann Mike Patton, mit dem Lombardo bei den mehr oder minder wahnsinnigen FANT�MAS gespielt hat.

Die Rede ist von Bj�rn "Speed" Strid, der in erster Linie als S�nger von SOILWORK bekannt ist, die Band nennt sich THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA und das Deb�t "Internal Affairs" erscheint Mitte Juni.

Keimzelle war eine Tourbusunterhaltung mit David Andersson (MEAN STREAK, Session bei SOILWORK) vor f�nf Jahren, dar�ber was "klassisch" ist, von Rock'n'Roll Verschw�rungen bis zu nur in Lederhosen in der Hotellobby verhaftet werden. Teil der Band sind au�er den beiden Sharlee D'Angelo (u.a. ARCH ENEMY, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS) am Bass, Richard Larsson (VON BENZO) am Keyboard und MEAN STREAK Schlagzeuger Jonas K�llsb�ck.

Seit f�nf Jahren warten Death'n Roller allerorten auf Neues von ENTOMBED und jetzt k�nnte die Freude �ber das am 23. Mai erscheinende "Amok" gro� sein. Allerdings wird es sich dabei - ungeachtet auch aller Cover- und Titel�hnlichkeiten zur SENTENCED-Gro�tat - nur um eine Single mit einer Neuaufnahme des gleichnamigen Tracks vom letzten Album "Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments" handeln. Die neugeschlossene Kooperation mit Ninetone Records soll damit offiziell gestartet werden, auf ein neues Album muss dagegen weiterhin gewartet werden.

Fast so unspektakul�r ist bei aller Liebe die "Rise" EP von THE ANSWER, die Anfang Juli erscheinen wird. Den bisher unver�ffentlichten Titeltrack gibt es in satten drei Versionen (Radio Edit, Full Version und Akustik/Orchester), dazu einen neuen Mix vom bekannten Track "Lost". Aufschluss dar�ber, wie gro� der angebliche Unterschied zu allem ist, was die Band bisher gemacht, deutet der Player an:

Rechtzeitig bevor die neue Scheibe "Icarus" Ende Juli erscheint, hat DEW-SCENTED Frontmann Leif Jensen das neue Line-up der Band vorgestellt, dass sich massiv vom letzten unterscheidet.
Neu an Bord als Leadgitarrist und Songwriter ist Marvin Vriesde (SEVERE TORTURE), der sich als langj�hriger Freund von Leif und mehrmalige Aushilfe der Band auf Tour und im Studio bestens mit DEW-SCENTED auskennt. Au�erdem in die Thrashr�nge aufgenommen wurden Koen Herfst (dr), Joost van der Graaf (bs) und Rory Hansen (git), die sich alle von I CHAOS kennen. Letzterer ist auf Empfehlung der anderen drei "Neulinge" zur Band gesto�en, allerdings als einziger erst nach den Aufnahmen zum Album.

Einen zu DEW-SCENTED spiegelverkehrten Neustart am lebenden Objekt vollziehen SECRET SPHERE, bei denen alle Mitglieder geblieben sind au�er dem S�nger. Roberto Messina ist nach 15 Jahren nicht mehr Teil der Band, sein Nachfolger ist Michele Luppi (THAUROROD, Ex-VISION DIVINE). Das neue Album "Portrait Of A Dying Heart" wird zur Zeit aufgenommen und erscheint noch in diesem Jahr.

Last but not least werden die Namen gr��er und die Geschichte verworrener:
Akt 1: Scott Weiland sagt in einer Radioshow, dass er wieder Teil von VELVET REVOLVER ist, nachdem alle ihre Egos etwas zur�ckgenommen & Zwistigkeiten beigelegt haben und man sich wieder vertr�gt. Au�erdem hat er schon einige neue Songs bekommen und wird sich n�chste Woche mit Dave Kushner (git) und Duff McKagan (bs) zu einer Songwriting-Session treffen. Im Herbst soll es laut Scott dann auch eine Tour geben, wenn Slash mit den Auftritten zu seinem neuen Soloalbum fertig ist.

Akt 2: Slash wird in einer Radioshow auf Scotts Aussagen angesprochen und dementiert: "Ich habe absolut nicht die Absicht, wieder dazu zur�ckzukehren... Ich bin das ganze Jahr auf Tour. Ich werde Duff anrufen, aber ich bezweifle ernsthaft [dass Weilands Kommentare der Wahrheit entsprechen]."

News: Clipshow: INMATE, IMBALANCE & TO/DIE/FOR

Wir beginnen heute ein wenig exotisch, denn sehr viele slowenische Metalbands kennt man bei uns nicht gerade. Das Deb�t "Graviton - The Missing Link" von INMATE steht an, ein guter Anlass f�r ein erstes Video:

Wesentlich mehr Bands kennt man aus Norwegen, aber IMBALANCE sind zumindest mir neu. "Ease Your Pain" hat als Lied schon zwei Jahre auf dem Buckel, das Video ist aber neu.

Deutlich mehr Jahre auf dem Buckel hat "Cry For Love", neu ist allerdings, dass TO/DIE/FOR den IGGY POP Klassiker spielen. Anlass ist die anstehende weitere Verbreitung des letzten Albums "Samsara" durch Massacre Records.
